About us

Barnsley Hospital is a 400-bed acute hospital, serving a population of over a quarter of a million people in the Barnsley area, South Yorkshire.

About the Hospital

The hospital was built in the 1970s and has gone through many transformations since, as the healthcare needs of the local population change – as an NHS Foundation Trust, local people have a say in shaping our future.

Barnsley Hospital provides a full range of district hospital services to the local community and surrounding area. These include accident and emergency services,  outpatient clinics, inpatient services, and maternity and children’s services. We also provide a number of specialised services, including cancer and surgical services, in conjunction with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.
