Planned Investigation Unit

The planned investigation unit (PIU) caters for patients who are undergoing planned surgical procedures and investigations, and also admits patients requiring acute and surgical intervention.

The PIU is not an inpatient area; it caters for patients on a day-case basis.

These investigations or treatments include :

  • gastroenterology
  • cardiology
  • rheumatology
  • respiratory
  • endocrinology
  • radiological procedures that require a period of recovery

On occasion the unit also cares for patients from other specialities.
