Trainee Nurse Associates (TNA)

Trainee Nurse Associates (TNA)

Nursing Associates (NA's) work as a vital part of the wider nursing team – this important new role sits between health and care assistants and registered nurses.

Training includes a mixture of hands on experience in the workplace, supported by learning in the classroom.

At the end of your training you’ll have a foundation degree, and once you register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, you’ll become a fully registered nursing associate.

You can also go on to become a registered nurse, if that’s what you want, by doing a shortened nursing degree or nursing degree apprenticeship.

Nursing associates work in many different health and care settings, including hospitals, care homes, general practice and in the community. We can support your studies as a TNA here at Barnsley Hospital.
