Attending the Amber Clinic

Attending the Amber Clinic

Our care is consultant led with specialist midwifery support. There is access to infant feeding guidance from the specialist infant feeding team. At your first appointment, you will meet with a specialist nurse or consultant doctor.

Our clinic is currently run on Wednesdays in the Maternity Ultrasound Department.

The clinic is run by 2 Consultants - Dr N. Khanem and Dr M. Fawzy - alongside Midwife T. Wade.

We will discuss what we can do to help reduce the risk of you going into premature labour. We will work with you to make a care plan, that includes investigation and management options.

Initial appointments occur between 16 to 18 weeks.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring:

  • your handheld notes with you if you have them - staff will ask you lots of questions about any previous pregnancies, and your medical history
  • a urine sample - this will save time at your appointment

If you are not able to bring a urine sample with you, you can do this at the clinic.

It is important that this is a urine sample from the middle of the stream of urine to reduce the risk of an incorrect result.

The team in the clinic can advise you how to do this. Please phone us if you need advice before you attend your appointment.
