Our Emergency Department is very busy right now and some people are experiencing long waits. If you do not require emergency care, please use an alternative such as 111 online.
Look out for great news about our Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in the town centre’s Glass Works – the CDC has just received an extra £4.6m in funds and so can introduce another eight services including CT and MRI scanning.
Work is also almost complete on our new £7.3m Intensive Care Unit, due to start caring for patients in March.
In other news, we hear about free blood pressure checks (look after your ticker!), and a brilliant scheme helping young people with learning difficulties get into jobs.
If you’ve ever fancied getting stuck in to see how our hospital works, check out our info on becoming a hospital governor. Or, if you’d rather help out Barnsley Hospital Charity, read all about our fundraising fun. We’ve got something for everyone, from fire-walking to fishing!
You could even come up with fundraisers to help us ‘paint the town blue’ for the 75th birthday of the NHS on July 5. We thank all our incredible staff and the Barnsley community for your amazing support. We just couldn’t do it without you. Happy reading!
