Our Emergency Department is very busy right now and some people are experiencing long waits. If you do not require emergency care, please use an alternative such as 111 online.
The nurses will also take up roles in medical and surgical wards, intensive care, outpatients, short stay unit, acute medical unit, endoscopy and respiratory care unit.
The Trust’s Workforce Development and Student Support Team has launched a new ‘Prepare to Nurse’ week with expert speakers which provided a structured introduction to the Trust and nursing processes.
This has been a great success, and in positive evaluations, nurses acknowledged that meeting other newly-qualified nurses and having discussions together was beneficial and provided them with support.
Sarah Moppett, the hospital’s Director of Nursing, Midwifery and AHPs, said:
“We are delighted to welcome the latest group of qualified nurses who have chosen to work at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
“We know from feedback from local colleagues, patients and visitors that our newly-qualified healthcare professionals are making such a positive difference and helping us to deliver a wide range of services.”
The nurses will undertake the ‘Preceptorship’ programme which helps new nurses to be supported during their first year in their new roles as Registered Nurses. The Trust has been recognised for its Preceptorship programme with the National Preceptorship Interim Quality Mark.
The nurses will have access to support and supervision from a number of Professional Nurse Advocates (PNAs) throughout the Trust to enable them to develop and gain confidence in their new roles.
The Trust continues to prioritise employee wellbeing, with colleagues working together to provide a supportive work environment focusing on individual and diverse needs.
