Our Emergency Department is very busy right now and some people are experiencing long waits. If you do not require emergency care, please use an alternative such as 111 online.
Is there anything I need to do?
Try to keep your wound clean and dry. If your wound gets wet the steristrips will come off and the wound may re-open.
Is there anything I should look out for?
Return to the emergency department if your wound starts to bleed heavily
Go to your GP or return to the emergency department if the wound becomes hot, red, swollen or very painful.
When should I take them off?
After seven days (or as advised) gently remove your steristrips. Your wound should be healed. Steristrips may be soaked off.
