Our Emergency Department is very busy right now and some people are experiencing long waits. If you do not require emergency care, please use an alternative such as 111 online.
Our general surgery division works from a bed base of 89 beds across four ward areas, offering care from a highly skilled nursing and support team. The general surgery directorate undertakes the following surgical sub specialities:
- colorectal (bowels)
- upper gastrointestinal
- breast
- vascular (heart)
- urology (urinary-tract system and the reproductive organs)
We have a surgical admissions unit which helps to streamline the patient journey for all our elective surgical patients by improving admission and discharge arrangements in a more conducive environment for patients before and after their surgery.
We have a team of ten permanent senior medical personnel who provide this support with the help of middle and junior grade doctors, specialist nurses, and highly trained administrative support.
