Our Emergency Department is very busy right now and some people are experiencing long waits. If you do not require emergency care, please use an alternative such as 111 online.
During your outpatient appointment or visit to A&E, you may be prescribed new or repeat medicine. This prescription is sent electronically to our outpatient pharmacy.
Making contact with the Outpatient Pharmacy
Hospital pharmacies operate slightly differently to your local one. The Outpatient Pharmacy will not start to process your prescription until you make contact with the service. This can be done by attending the Pharmacy (on the first floor) after your visit, or by contacting them by telephone.
Waiting Times
After making contact with the Outpatient Pharmacy, you will wait approximately 30 minutes for your prescription. If your prescription is more complex, such as a chemotherapy prescription, your wait can be up to 60 minutes.
I don’t have time to wait – now what?
If you can’t wait for your prescription on the day, please contact the Outpatient Pharmacy by telephone or at the window. After letting the Pharmacy know, please return and collect your prescription at a later time or date within two weeks.
All good to go
Your prescription is ready and you are all good to go! Thank you for your patience.
