Crutch walking: non-weight bearing
You have an injury that needs to be non-weight bearing to aid healing. This means you should not put your injured leg to the floor until advised to.
Nose injury
Your nose may be swollen because of bad bruising or because it's broken.
The treatment is the same so an x-ray is not needed.
Lower back pain
You have been assessed by one of the emergency department team today. Currently, we feel your back pain does not have a worrying cause, but as it is still causing you symptoms, here we have some further advice on how to help you manage these at home.
Crutch walking: partial weight bearing
You have an injury which can be managed with partial weight bearing. This means you can walk with the foot with support from your crutches.
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
A DVT is a blood clot that has formed in the deep veins of your legs or pelvis.
You have been assessed by the doctor as low risk so can go home and come back for further investigations.
Nose bleed
Nosebleeds are not usually a sign of anything serious. They're common, particularly in children, and most can be easily treated at home. Sometimes, you may need to come to A & E for a particularly heavy nose bleed, or if you have reoccurring nosebleeds.
Fainting
About 2 in 5 people faint at some point in their lives. Common fainting (vasovagal syncope) is a short-lived episode of loss of consciousness.
Video and telephone appointments
Your appointment with a healthcare professional (clinician) may take place over video or telephone, or you may be offered the choice of attending via video, phone call or face-to-face.
Patient Initiated Follow-up (PIFU)
Did you know that you do not always have to have a follow-up appointment?
Some areas are now offering select patients PIFU; which puts the patient in control of when they are seen by a specialist for a specific condition.
Thinking about having a baby when you have diabetes
If you become pregnant and you have diabetes, you should go on to have a healthy baby. But there are some possible complications you should be aware of.
Education
If you have any concerns around your child’s education, their ability to access education or are looking for extra support from their setting, we recommend contacting your schools Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) in the first instance. All settings are required to have an appointed SENCo who is responsible for coordinating the people, processes and plans required to support children’s needs in school.

It is common for autistic children and young people to experience some sensory sensitivities.
Sensory sensitivities can present in many forms and can sometimes impact on day to day function. When speaking about sensory sensitivities, a lot of people associate this with difficulties around loud noises but other senses can be affected too.
Surveillance cameras
Our CCTV cameras are located in the hospital and around the grounds and car parks. We take the privacy and dignity of all our patients, staff and visitors very seriously, always taking care to position our cameras accordingly and do not have any hidden cameras in any of our public areas.
Anxiety
It is not uncommon for children and young people to feel anxious and worried at times, especially those with autism.

There are a number of lifestyle and environmental factors, that may apply to you life, that increase the likelihood of premature birth. There is no evidence that continuing to work, doing exercise, or having sex whilst pregnant, increases the risk of preterm birth.
